PaxSim Solutions

PaxSim, Jeppesen's passenger and baggage movement simulation system, is a graphics-based computer program used for the fast-time simulation of passenger and baggage flows inside the airport terminal building and on the tarmac.

PaxSim processes flight schedules using the actual number of passengers for each flight, or if unavailable, the average aircraft seating capacity and load factors, to generate the flow of departing and arriving passengers.

PaxSim employs sophisticated algorithms to produce realistic passenger behavior. Statistical information can be used to specify and analyze the usage patterns for various dwell areas and facilities of the airport. The speed of the simulation can vary from real-time to hundreds of times faster than real-time. Statistical reports are automatically produced during a simulation and can be exported into most spreadsheet or database tools.

PaxSim provides management with critical information which can be used to decrease overall operational costs and create a more efficiently managed terminal area.

Benefits Include:

  • With PaxSim, an airport operator can review and comprehensively report on fluctuating demands for human resource allocation on a day-to-day, minute-by-minute basis.
  • Airport management can use PaxSim's reports to increase the efficiency, and decrease the costs of their operation.
  • PaxSim produces valuable reports on check-in, customs, security and other personnel, greatly reducing the costs usually associated with obtaining this type of detailed analysis tool for management.
  • PaxSim can predict delays in passenger processing so that appropriate preventative action can be taken, well before delays become a costly customer service problem.
  • PaxSim can reduce risks associated with development by enabling management to investigate and evaluate alternative proposals to identify the most efficient and cost-effective option.
